'Coalition of the Willing' is a collaborative animated film and web-based event about an online war against global warming in a 'post Copenhagen' world.

‘Coalition of the Willing’ has been Directed and produced by Knife Party, written by Tim Rayner and crafted by a network of 24 artists from around the world using varied and eclectic film making techniques. Collaborators include some of the world’s top moving image talent, such as Decoy, World Leaders and Parasol Island.

The film offers a response to the major problem of our time: how to galvanize and enlist the global publics in the fight against global warming. This optimistic and principled film explores how we could use new Internet technologies to leverage the powers of activists, experts, and ordinary citizens in collaborative ventures to combat climate change. Through analyses of swarm activity and social revolution, 'Coalition of the Willing' makes a compelling case for the new online activism and explains how to hand the fight against global warming to the people.

Bringing this to our readers at the189.com

thank you, the world needs minds like these involved in this project.

not only was the animation stunning throughout it really meant something and provides an avenue to make people sit and listen to how they along with others can make the change that is needed in our societies.

the world in inhabited by the masses so it is our responsibility along with those in power of the corporations and the governments, although like is said here they have vested interests.

So inspiring. So worthwhile the hard work.

Thankyou all involved, regards - Daniel.

As regards your comment, we feel that a system, like the one we propose is a very simple ask indeed. In fact, there are such destinations already, but perhaps nothing high profile enough and multi-facetted enough to do the job.

I agree. That's how the leftists work. No dislike button!
  • coalitionfilm 1 year ago
I think you'll find that the Democrats are technically a 'leftist' government, yet they're doing very little about climate change. We're not leftist, we're populist, for the people and for decentralising action on climate change. The grassroots swarm action we advocate is utterly apolitical. Sorry to disappoint...

  • Hippy BS. Posting shit on the internet won't solve global warming. All this grass-roots rubbish doesn't matter one bit if governments and business don't play ball.

Focus should be on pressuring governments and industry rather than recycling and putting solar panels on our roofs...

Also rather confused about the large 60's segment. Are you saying we should all do acid to save the world?
  • coalitionfilm 1 year ago
Governments are desperate to keep in step with their voting publics. Grass roots movements will in turn force the hand of government, the civil rights campaigns and anti-Vietnam campaigns in late 60s US show this clearly.

If you are wedded to the idea of top down bureaucratic government as a model for the future and don't understand the nature and power of grass roots movements, then we can't help you I'm afraid.

The 60's section was a 'send up' of how we remember the 60's as opposed to the real power of what went on in that era; rhizomatic grass-roots movements. We go on to state this in the film.

My feeling is that your response is angry and reactionary. Starting with 'Hippy BS' does your argument no favours at all. Watch the movie a couple more times, maybe you'll find something interesting in the message if you do?
  • Beginners-mind.de plus 1 year ago
    Hey Chris,

I think the message of this film reveals a perfect opportunity for everybody to join a community of like-minded people that are willing to change something for real. Nothing about acid and pressure on the governments - they are corrupted anyway. As they say in the film: "No government would turn on their own citizens" Jobs, Gates, Buffet, Abramovic and Mital are all citizens of a state... it must be a grassrot activism from the people, a strong community with the unrelenting will to change! That will do!
  • 420 1 year ago
dude, only yourself can do something, stop depending on "others" like, governments, gods, and stuff like that.

some other dude once said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world"
    ...
    simple as that
  •
  • BTW: I always recycle, turn the lights off, and ride a bicycle, but I know it doesn't really make any difference in the grand scheme of things. I just think the direction of the video is way off the mark. Nice step in the right direction, but still a rather weak message.

So why don't starting to build up the community?
I would recommend doing it in the most succesful social network nowadays to create real viral effects and grow the community faster. So it'll be Facebook for sure.

For the Wiki and other Social Network Tools I would recommend Confluence, Jive, even Wordpress or Drupal. Build up the content, accesable for everybody and then spread the bits and pieces via Twitter and the Facebook Site (which has of course some fruity FBML Add Ons and Apps)

    Should I go On?
