This course aims to be a complete introduction to the current state of the art of the craft and economics of online journalism. This is session 5, on the business end of online journalism. We examine the basic economics of online publishing, the online ad market and ad networks, content networks and content mills, and search engine optimization. We get deep into the paywall debate, and discuss a number of emerging business models that might fund journalism.
