Last month's MATCHA event at the Asian Art Museum featured Jane Zhu's qipao designs. The qipao which originated in the Qin dynasty (1600's) became all the rage in Shanghai during the 20's through 40's, before the Communist takeover in 1949. Now they're making a comeback and are popular with the modern-day sophisticated Shanghai woman.
