You talk about your car as a "Old Junker". So Andy, my "Close Personal Friend", what do you drive? (And as I am a "Close Personal Friend" there won't be any laughs, at least from here)
  • Andy Ihnatko 3 months ago
Hey Adam. Well, since you are a close personal friend, I guess I can reveal that I drive 1987 Volkswagon Beatle. Long story, but I got it at a very good price and it still works, so why fix it? Remember, I expect no ridicule from a close personal friend like yourself ;)

    -Cheers,

VW Beetles are awesome, so no ridicule should be necessary.

I hate to admit how much time I spent figuring this out, but Andy's joking about the Beetle. For one thing, that interior isn't shaped correctly for either an Old or New Beetle, and for another thing, unless he bought a Mexican one, they didn't have Beetles in 1987.

My guess is the "1987" is about right, because I think the car has an automated seatbelt mechanism.

My first three guesses would be Dodge Omni, VW Rabbit, or Saturn SL1. Andy-stalkers, I got your back!

Hey Andy! Love the video, and grats on the Mino. I think it's pronounced Mee-no, though. I've also made some with mine (bought it a month ago), you can check out some of the vids at vimeo.com/allen099. Best of luck, and I look forward to hearing all of your stuff :-)

You should have taken this opportunity to opine over BK goodness.

I call those "roundabouts". I think that's from my travel in England.

    Gotta love Boston roads.

We have lots of roundabouts in the UK, designed solely to freak out non-New England American tourists.

Your review was ... um... moving.

Love the Mino. The advantage no one seems to mention (and what was the deciding factor for me) is the internal rechargeable battery that means not carrying around those blasted AA's. Charges very quickly from USB on my Mac, and later from a wall charger.

Wow, Andy...that's actually fairly impressive, especially the sound. I'm surprised I don't hear more car noise. Was the audio enhanced in iMovie in any way for clarity?

Read your tweets about the Mino and got one for myself. Thanks for the recommendation. Really a fun camera. Will post some fireworks video tomorrow.

I was gifted a Flip Ultra, but I find it hard to justify carrying it around when my Canon SD 750 is a lot smaller and takes video that seems as good if not better.

    I guess I'm missing something...

Yeah, I'm enjoying my Sony Net-Sharing Camera (model number GC001, I think?). It's almost as small as the regular Flip (thicker, though), much more versatile, and much better quality video. It was more expensive than the Flip, though.

I've got one of the Flip Ultras. It's really is true what you say about just having it with you always makes a big difference. Many times people just think I'm taking a still photo with it.. If you want to see how the flip fares when not fixed in place, go to my flip cam page: maineboy.blip.tv I've tried using it more like a standard video cam--making home movies.. I do wish it was easier to work with the AVI files on a Mac.. I've used Visual Hub as well, it's just time-consuming on my 17 inch PB G4.. so slow...changing the AVI to MP4 and the video quality is degraded when i do it. Andy: can you post again if you find any better way to work with the AVI files? thanks!

Is this editable natively on the Mac or still not? Dealbreaker for something which is supposedly ‘easy to use’.

Yes, apparently it now is (under iMovie 08)

Can we see an exterior of this vehicle? Is it a gas guzzler? a hybrid? a clunker? Come on Andy, shed some light on this mystery.

Hey, you should have placed the cam on the steering wheel. Check out the effect: vimeo.com/414375
