7. The Brief Life of an…
The EPI flower, also known as queen of the night, blooms once or twice a year, usually at night. It has a glorious beauty and an amazing scent. Sadly it only lasts for a few hours before it withers and dies.

Like all things that are beautiful arround us, this flower is both haunting and captivating. Its beauty, like love, may be a passing dream, but its splendour remains in our hearts forever. The hope that such beauty or feeling may visit us again keeps our expectations alive. The plant grew from a cutting and took a year in my sunny window before it gave us this one flower. If you had this outdoor, in a sunny hot climate, it will give you a lot more.

The music is from Mahler's 5th symphony, made popular by the film 'Death in Venice'.

I have heard stories about this flower and today for the first time, I actually get to witness one in great definition too! I hope the following year you could do a time lapse capture on it Salim. But as it is.. this was absolutely beautiful - and rare! You're a great poet sir!

The music is part of the slow movement of Mahler's 5th symphony, which was used as the theme music for the film 'Death in Venice".
