Overview:
This video is a teaser for a collaboration between Philip Bloom and Deltree, The first film ever to be shot on an iPhone. Brilliantly shot using the latest technology, the film will showcase revolution of HD film-making with the Apple iPhone 4.
Couple of technical notes:
Rig was a quick pass at mounting- this is not the final rig. We mounted it onto a redrock mattebox. Not for the looks but because it was the best way we could gel/ND the iPhone.
Because we were rushed we had to shoot in broad daylight- not ideal when we cant control shutter/exposure.
For behind the scenes pics: phillip bloom's blog link
Why we are doing this:
Because its going to be done, we went to do it really well. We think it is important to showcase to the world the ongoing revolution of digital film-making techniques.
Not only that, it’s a well written story.

Hi, I have a dev shop down hall from Ben and investigating it. So far, I have found that an app would have to built on the top of the camera api's to extend the feature request. With that said, these are private api's. As an iPhone/iPad developer, submitting any application that makes use of private API's will be rejected. The reasoning behind this is that Apple tends to change their API's and an application built could break in the next OS release.
The camera engineering team spent of a ton of time implementing HD, facetime and new API's to handle iMovie. The target audience are consumers, so manual exposure control was probably not high on the list. If even at all. Their focus (no pun intended) is for (tap to focus) autoexposure control to help the consumer.
With that said, I can see the interest among you, so submitting a feature request to their bug system is quite possible. The right engineers will see it, but managers make the ultimate decisions. I will keep investigating it, and see if I can come up ideas...
Looking forward to this!

I've added this video to my site :)

Seriously, nice shots, a bit shuttery perhaps, but we'll see. Great plan!
I thought this might be very useful to you or anyone else who is looking for a funky little tripod for their iPhone

The point was to release a video (above) to show what we could do with the camera and then to try to get the community involved to make a film happen with Phillip Bloom. With all our schedules the earliest we can shoot is mid July.
The pie is big enough for everyone. So bring em on! :)
But if you want to see a film done really well, with a script, storyline, multiple locations, lighting, etc....

Its great, and I don't see it as competition, just a different type of execution....
I too am very interested to see what you guys come up with. Our's was obviously done very quickly, but I've seen Philip's work in the past and I'm really curious to see what you come up with a bit of money, and more time to actually test the camera, etc. There is a ton of footage that was just plain unusable because we were learning the camera as we went.
Very much looking forward to it.
i found this one here today though.
seems like a similar idea. not sure what yours is though.

it's unfortunate really but you couldn't really control other people doing it..
But, like I said above, we can't control...and that's a good thing! Bring it on!
With all the iphone films coming online you'll be forced to produce something amazing. That must be a great feeling!
With Bloom and other film makers on your side I have no doubt its going to be a success!
I'm keeping an eye on it!
Thanks for doing this experiment but frankly Vincent LaForet's first work with the Canon 5D II was worth getting more excited about. The Canon 5D II doesn't cost that much more than an iPhone these days. Think you should reschedule with a Panasonic GH2 even if Phil has to pay cash for it (he was complaining about no demo units from Panasonic on his weblog).
I am truly grateful for this experiment as it saves time going down the wrong path.
