This series of clips showcases the work of Joan Merwyn and Erica Rooney in a school serving students with autism. Through arts residencies in Creative Movement and Visual Arts, these veteran instructors use arts activities to encourage developmental growth, share new tools for communication and expression, challenge students to collaborate and help each other, and provide opportunities for students to make meaningful aesthetic decisions, empowering them as free agents in the world. The residencies also address items in individual student IEPs, for example goals in verbalization or fine and gross motor skills.

This video also beautifully expresses how working with Marquis Studios artists, who are experts in the field of arts education for these special needs populations, provides meaningful hands-on Professional Development for classroom teachers and Paras, in addition to instruction for the students.
