You didn't give credit for a set designer so I'm assuming that is actually someone's room.

Very funny. The condom on the purse cracked me up.
  • Dave Humphreys 1 year ago
well it was actually the sound engineers bedroom, but Jack the director, the sound guy and myself (producer) spent the previous day gutting and then re-dressing his entire room with as many props as we could find, pretty much everything you see in shot has been put there by one of us. A lot of fun to make!
  • you did a great job...looks like a lived in room.
  • Dave Humphreys 3 weeks ago
Thanks Brendan appreciate the praise and feedback
  • you deserve credit for setting up the room like that.....never seen anything like that!

Ha ha - very funny. The prologue is DAMN funny - her facial expressions and comic timing are spot on. And the attempt to retrieve her bra - hilarious.

It was shot and edited cleanly - well done!

What lenses did you use, Jack? (I'd like to guess it was a 5Dmkii)

Very well shot... but you knew that already :)
  • Jack Tew 1 year ago
Hi thanks for your comment. we used a 24mm 2.8 for most of the shots as we was in such a small space we needed a wide lens! but we also used 50mm1.4 for one or two shots.
yeh it was shot on the 5Dmkii. Cheers
  • Dave Humphreys 1 year ago
surely we used the 100mm as well as some point?

Loved the Tango music . . . the music of passion . . . in the background. We need to see her remove her smeared lipstick. Some hardcuts but overall, I give it FIVE STARS.

  • Matt Stapleton plus 1 year ago
Great job! Just a little critical remarks. The cinematography was great however there were a few shots that appeared to be hand held (close up of his face on the bed) that shook too much. The aesthetics of these shots didn't mix well with the other great shots.

I read the first few comments and skipped to the end.
I am very surprised that no one has mentioned the lack of sound. It think it was waay too quiet. I though my speakers were switched off.

I notice a faint radio playing in the background. I think it would have been easier to watch with a little 'something', more foley or footsteps, covers, breathing, anything! lol

I was wanting her to step on the floor, and cringe when the floorboards creak.
  • Jack Tew 1 year ago
Yh good point Steve! This was me not paying much attention to the audio levels before exporting it! I must go back into the edit and fix it up! Cheers for the comment!
  • Steve Brunton 1 year ago
BUT, let it be known, I think the film is great, and the acting was very enjoyable to watch.

I just learned (nothing to do with this film), that if you want to film something in the dark, there is always light. If you want to film something quiet there's always sound. lol ambient stuff-a-ma-jig.
  • Not trying to criticise your comment Steve, but I disagree. There are lots of sounds in the film, lots of floorboard creeks etc. and having those virtually silent moments really add to the tension that builds up. As a viewer I was sat there in silence myself trying not to move or make a sound, in anticipation for her to accidentally make a noise. Brilliant film, and I personally think the sound was a big factor in creating the tension.
  • Steve Brunton 1 year ago
Hi Lloyd. Everyone has their own opinion.
I know there is sound. Just not enough for my liking (atmos).

I thought my speakers were switched off at first lol
  • Joshua Rainwater plus 7 months ago
I agree with Lloyd here that since it's morning and she's trying to now wake him up that any more noise would have been unrealistic, but again it's personal preference.

Nice job! One point of criticism perhaps: I had trouble believing the girl would cover herself with the bedsheets while scrambling her clothes together, after a one night stand.. But besides that: very entertaining and well executed short film!
  • Jack Tew 1 year ago
Would have been nice to see a naked girl walk around the room but..... ha ha
  • Kevin Dooley 1 year ago
I had "trouble" with that, too, but it's such classic film technique to have the woman wrap herself in the bedsheets that I accepted it.

Love how her clothes were everywhere amidst his room's normal cacophony of laundry. Kinda wish she'd had more trouble finding things, e.g. her second shoe.

Great stuff Jack, you just gave me every reason i need to update my 50d mk1!

Love the use of light & colours.... there is sooo much to look at.

    Total mess becomes totaly absorbing!

What other lighting did you use? it gives great effect & love the catchlight in her eyes.

p.s. I loved the sound as it is.... more dramatic. & as for her going nude.... don't you guys know 'less is more'. :)
  • Jack Tew 1 year ago
Nothing really! we used a fill light on the boys side of the bed as it was abit dark, but apart from that we used the natural light that came from the window! which lit her spot on!
  • Derry Cummins 1 year ago
It certainly did! Fantastic job by all involved!

I look forward to more inspiration from you soon. 10 out of 10

Awesome. I find it incredible that you managed to tell an absorbing story without any dialogue at all! (except for that little bit at the end)
    That's really hard to do!
