I couldn't help but notice you used the Framers as your six users.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing Diaspora in action.

cool!! for the UI maybe you can take inspiration from this one tinyurl.com/ydgyxaq (it was a possible facebook redesign that never happened)

i'm sure you can buy/borrow a camera tripod from someone...

Yes. With $200,000 you'd think they could do a bit of a better job on a demo.

Seems like you used a tripod, but placed it on the same table that you were using for your keyboards, so the image shook anyway. Put the tripod on the floor! ;-)
Great work on the actual project, though!

I see you're using google chrome... so you are probably using the new html5 javascript socket api ( dev.w3.org/html5/websockets/ ) that is actually supported only by chromium

However i think that this kind of solution is not user-friendly... imagine if someone is reading a long post and, while he's reading, some new posts appear and push the text below... and now imagine if this happens again and again... it will become impossible and frustrating to read something... I think you should use a feature like twitter.... where you get the count of all the new messages (from when you opened the page) and only by explicitely clicking some kind of button somewhere you'll show all the new messages stream...
I'm sorry for my awful english... I hope the concept is clear enough.

Anyway it seems that you're doing a wonderful job! I can't wait to see the first release ;)
It's wonderful to see a small group of young people that is able to do such a great thing!
Guys, I hope you the best ;)

The demonstration was simply to showcase the live seeding of content across servers (that fact that small update packets can be distributed "live" without users having to refresh the page)
No doubt the later implementation will be something akin to the way facebook or twitter handle this.

How well does it work when you have 4000 friends?

I can't wait for this, but you guys know it doesn't have to look like Facebook, right? Take a look at this:

remember that the community gave them 200k, they did not ask for it. so enough with the "you'd think with 200k, you could do such-and-such" comments, ok? this was only ever supposed to be a 15k summer project, and it's unfair to expect that just because the community was overzealous with their donations, that they will treat it as anything other than what they originally had in mind.
