Michigan State University students partner with the community of Zonkizizwe, a township in South Africa, to create a non-profit organization and community center for orphans and vulnerable children in the summer of 2007. From the Mission Statement: "[The center, VVOCF, will] provide physical and psychosocial support to children and youth made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. The center will be a clean attractive, peaceful place that will provide a range of activities to help children and youth reach their full potential. This includes education and assistance with health and nutrition, promoting academic excellence and life skills development, artistic expression, sport and physical activity, social responsibility, and communication and problem solving skills."
