How long? Thatʼs the question. How long does it take for your hair to grow? Can you use that measure to figure out how long you were doing something? In this case the filmmaker filmed herself every day for over four months to create a time lapse video segment to try to figure out how long she was in the orphanage when she was four years old in Korea.
Hair Watch is a three minute video with sound. This video installation is looped and the volume of audio is set low, so ambient sound becomes part of the sound track. When viewing video, audio sounds like an off-hand conversation happening in the room. The video is constructed to be experienced without a specific beginning or end in order to replicate the interminability of waiting.
