In the single channel piece Objet d'Art I ask why don't we see the blanks between frames of film, or video for that matter? Some attribute this effect to the Persistence of Vision. Others to the fact that the black is a short enough moment of nothing that we don't register its passing. Objet D'art embraces the pause, the black, the moments of nothing, and uses it to possibly give for those who care to see, the after-image. The repeated gesture in the video of the exposed neck, the tilt of the head, the ultimate reveal of a face unadorned, speaks to our private dreams of having with us forever those who no longer are in our lives.
