VIRTIS, the Visible and InfraRed Thermal Imaging Spectrometer, is a science instrument that flies in space on the Rosetta and Venus Express space missions from the European Space Agency ESA and the Dawn mission from NASA.

This film provides with a glimpse behind the scenes of how such an instrument is conceived and built.

This film is presented by the INAF Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana, Italy and the Laboratoire d'Etudes Spatiales et d'Instrumentation en Astrophysique of the Observatoire de Paris, France.
