I was lucky enough to get up in a chopper , although I am not at liberty to post the Aerial shots as they are for a client , but I have managed to include a nice tracking shot from the chopper , and a look at some of Sydney's World famous Icons , and a few other shots also....I would have shot more .... but the heavens opened up and rained on my parade....hope to get back soon to shot more....Thanks to my mates Matt and Todd , Matt was on the chopper with me and Tod shot lifestyle with me...sniper mission!!!!.....Thanks to all that view my work and that of my fellow Propvid shooters ( Brett and Geoff )...and thanks for the comments....I will reply to each and every one.....Keep Rollin!!!
P.S....I thought it fitting to have some Aboriginal didgeridoo as the soundtrack.

The escalator shot was remarkable! All of it is grand. When you shot from the heli was that 720p over cranked at 60fps? And let me guess – all this color is straight from the EX1? Cool tune on the audio.
  • Brett Moulton 2 months ago
Cheers mate , all in camera yet again, shot from heli is at 1080p , no overcrank , the helicopter provided the speed , I just smooth camed it in 3 sections.

Beautiful! Stunning! Is that your new favourite city Brett?
What are your interval record settings? Is that one frame every 5 seconds? I haven't tried that yet and finding 1 frame 1 second a little too slow for some shots.
    Loved your chopper shots.
  • Brett Moulton 2 months ago
1 frame every 3 seconds works good for me , but some were 1 frame 1 second , but unless there is alot of movement in the frame , 1frame 1 second can be a bit slow. Thanks mate!!!

Awesome shots. I am actually going to shoot a in a copter and I am planning to capture the Manhattan skyline. Any suggestions for night shooting, especially fast motion Also, if you don't mind sharing secrets, what were your picture profile settings? You have produced some of the craziest colors I've seen shot on an EX-1!!!
  • Brett Moulton 2 months ago
night shooting?.....extreme slow shutter , 60fps at 1 second intervals , this will give you fast motion !!!! pp settings , hi sat matrix 99 , gamma -45 black gamma -45 , cine3 and i change phase quite often...hope this helps...need more info ...drop me a line.

Brett this is brilliant! Love that chopper shot flying over the traffic, and you've really shown the beauty of Sydney. The music adds some emotion to it. It's perfect.

    Well done.

Where did you shoot the escalators?
  • Brett Moulton 2 months ago
The escalators are actually from melbourne , Parliment station , I wanted to include it in the melbourne reel , but it would have blown my 500meg out to 525mg...so I thought I would put it up on the Sydney reel ....seemed to match the music good and I really like the shot.
  • Lyall Furphy 2 months ago
mmm I thought it looked like Parliament Station in Melbourne.

  • shyan paul 2 months ago
    gosh, that's a great work.
    some question for you:
    1) did you film on a standard EX1 or did you use some cinema lenses? letus extreme or something?
    2) while filming from a chopper - did you fix some camera stabilizing grips onto the chopper or filmed just holding a camera? if so, how did you get such a stable footage?
  • Brett Moulton 2 months ago
cheers mate , this is shot on the stock 77mm fujion lens, not even a wide angle was use , Brett Clements told me " how wide do you need to go , wide is wide"....so stock lens that comes on every EX1, for the chopper I shot hand held and then smooth cammed it in FCP6 In 3 sections
  • shyan paul 2 months ago
gosh, i'm gonna sell my JVC GY-HD100 and buy EX3 as soon as it's available for sale!

Brett, I discovered your work through "Be Well's HD Time Lapse Theater" and I must say that your talent is remarkable, everything from your composition to color treatment!...I have friends who have always been afraid to "push the envelope", but you have proven to me and them what happens when that is incurred!..."Thank you for pushing my inspiration a bit further, I will be a subscriber to your work from now on..."
I can't wait to see what else you crank out, I have been eying the EX1 for a while now and the output never ceases to amaze me!...
    "Cheers!"
    ~Indigo .H
  • Brett Moulton 2 months ago
Cheers mate!!!....love to see how far I can push things....all color treatment is done in camera , I take my time to set up the shot , then grade in camera , then ...... and this is the key.....white balance off anything EXCEPT white....I have a range of paint sample cards(pick them up from your local hardware store)and these become my white balance cards....man you get some mad looks off those cards....and I have wound the matrix +99 on "hi sat".....like moving HDR....keep tuning in....and i'll keep pushing the limits!!!.....once again..thanks mate.

Brett Nice work. With regard to your setups, what type of monitor are you using in the field?

    Brett,

Your work is stunning! Your work is exceptional! Love bluish colour! And I am assuming how would be atmosphere there!

Love all scenes there; the scene from the top is fantastic! The cars/ road were looking amazing!

From the beginning to end it is stunning! It is unfortunate for me that this video is not available for download!

Are you position to allow us download it?

    Thanks,
    Kaushik
  • Brett Moulton 1 month ago
Thanks mate....glad you liked it , unfortunately I am not in a position to give access to a download version . Even though I shot it , the footage belongs to the company , They are kind enough to allow me to post it up , but I must respect there wishes for no downloads....sorry mate...but thanks for the comments.

Your video is stunning, actually I wanted to see it in huge screen with projector, anyway but it is not possible, so sad!

What are you using to archive your HD footage? Are you finding that you are running out of hard drive space? Also how much RAM should one have in order to edit at a normal pace with HD footage shot from this camera?
  • Brett Moulton 28 days ago
I use 2 WD hard drives , 1TB each' I clip and clean my rushes, export it , back them up then blow the sticks out.I cut on a Macbook pro , 2 gig of ram , runs fine, and I cut in 1080P , 3 would be better , the more the merrier when it comes to ram. You can't(well I wouldn't ) use the internal drive as my scratch drive , unless you had a Mac Pro Tower with 2 or more drives. But on a macbook pro , you need to scratch external.
