Fusion Concert "Scent of Woman" – La Rosa
"Scent of Woman" is an innovative fusion concert created and performed by the duo "La Rose", consisted of two brilliant and influential young artists, soprano Xiaoduo Chen and violinist Wei Wen.
As individual soloists, they both collaborated with top Chinese orchestras all over the country and the world stages, followed and appreciated by many enthusiastic admirers.
Miss Xiaoduo Chen has played leading roles in many operas. She was the original singer of "You and Me" (composed by Qigang Chen) for the Olympics 2008. She was described by New York Times as producing "lush, sweetly melodic lines" after her debut at Carnegie Hall.
Miss Wei Wen has earned numerous awards in international contests such as Sibelius, Sarasate and Wieniawsky. She is now teaching as a Professor at Sichuan Conservatoire. Wei was the youngest professor in China, at age 24, at that time.
The Friendship of Wei and Xiaoduo led to such adventure and exploration into these new approaches of presenting classical music with trademarks of their generation. The fruit, as seen now is this newly created fusion art.
The theme concert includes six distinct facades a woman's life, namely: lovely baby, beautiful girl, flirtatious woman, lifelong promise, loving mother and curtain draw. The program has both classical music and cross-over compositions. Some pieces were written specifically for this duo. The concert is a bold experimentation with different art forms and ideologies, classical or contemporary, traditional or avant garde. Violin playing, singing, acting, poetry and even dancing are all utilized in hope of bringing the audience an immersive artistic experience at a supreme mesmerizing level that no other occasion could offer.
