The Houston Arts Alliance purchased our video FOSSIL for the City of Houston’s George R. Brown Video Collection.

On first glance, oil rigs as the subject for a Houston-based collection may seem a little cliche. True, but there is more to this story.

Johnny filmed these old fashioned oil pumps on a cross-country drive, one week after the 9/11 attacks. Many years have passed since the footage was shot and in that time we had the opportunity to live in Houston for a spell. During our Texas residency, we came to realize how complex the oil and energy industry of the Gulf Coast region is.

FOSSIL was made specifically for this Video Collection, at a time when using fossil fuels is increasingly problematic. We are thrilled that the Houston Arts Alliance selected our work for the city’s Public Art Collection.
