Amazing work! But i would have cut the ending in a different way: Did you think about deleting the last shot and lengthen the close-up on his face 2-3 times? That would be very emotional. But nevertheless, it's nearly perfect!
  • brian gourley 1 year ago
I think you are right on the ending, but it is excellent work.
  • Hugh Whitaker 1 year ago
For me the ending is perfect, your stopped, and then let go again. By far one of the greatest films on this site
  • Piotr Janik 1 year ago
i dont like this face close-up...it's like asking "ok... now look on the camera" to smoeone who don't like to be filmed...you can see different man in this shoot...no passion for work, motorbikes etc.
i like the hands close-up and shaked with googles on motorbike...and flames from the exhaust(?)...
  • Dana Harvey 1 year ago
Shinya's final words "I can't tell you how peaceful it is". In the final scene as he rides off into the sunset, we "feel" how peaceful it is. The ending is PERFECT!!!
  • Simon Adams plus 1 year ago
The ending is great as it is. If he was to linger on the last CU, it would go against the editing style where nothing is lingered on. Holding on the CU would make it pretentious. Instead, he keeps moving like the bikes
  • Brian Gurnett 1 year ago
I agree with Simon. The edit is just the way it should be. Fantastic work!

The finest compliment I can make to you is when watching I forget the filming entirely and am transported to ' Shinya Kimura 's world'.For a moment it feels like you see the world through "his" eyes .This IS the filmmakers ultimate goal and you have achieved it here. All your hard work and effort becomes invisible...wonderful stuff
    congratulations!

  • WOW. YES!
Thank you. Wonderful cinematography, perfect editing. You also managed to create a very eerie atmosphere. It almost feels like this could have been shot in a post apocalyptic near future. Very powerful!!

I reward you for trying to be Authentic but too many cuts. Cutting just to show beautiful shot make authenticity suffer and attract attention to technicals production skillz but not true to subject. Good lighting.

  • George Hantzis 1 year ago
Oh yes.Saw that on youtube sometime ago and constantly found myself coming back to see it again.I think that the blend of the human element in the story was done in a masterful way.And the editing although it seemed harsh was (weirdly) emotional driven in a way i haven't seen before.Thank you for that.

hi! i must say this short movie is amazing. this is a small piece of a masterwork. i like the different fast cuts a lot.
i cant believe that you used a dslr camera for the shots.
did you record the sound seperately? i am inspired. thanx

Beautifully done... Truly inspiring. Thank you! I do agree that the last shot could be deleted, because the close up of the subject's face towards the end could make for very tranquil and emotional ending. Overall, fantastic work!
