Osher Soitil was born in 1973 in the town Ashdod, Israel. His father, a painter by profession, immigrated from Istanbul, Turkey. His mother, skilled in sewing and sculpturing, immigrated from Casablanca, Marocco. He was given the name of his grandfather, the late Asher Duk, who immigrated to Israel in 1955. Still in Morocco the grandfather was a silversmith of religious utensils and a designer of covers of holy books and decorated Bible books. Asher Dok exhibited a Moroccan style Chanukah lamp at the Israel Museum. Today Osher continues adherently and devotedly the path of his grandfather and ancestors who engaged in Judaica. In his school years he pursued the art course of study and completed it with distinction. During his military service as a paratrooper he was awarded the commendation for heroism and on completion of service he started on a new path, which he calls "the liberation journey of a pure child who almost became a combat tool.
