Event: PayPass Launch
Client: MasterCard
Venue: Millennium Bridge, London
Attendance: 100,000

Brief:
MasterCard wanted to create a spectacular press image to celebrate the launch of their new PayPass card. The new card is designed as a cash alternative – simply tap the card on a reader with no need for a signature.

Solution:
Continental Drifts created and installed a large-scale artwork of giant images of coins and notes covering the Millennium Bridge in London. We negotiated the installation with City of London Council and planned all related health & safety matters. The covering was a printed non-slip vinyl. At the end of the bridge were installed giant piggy banks to collect money for local charity Coin Street Community Builders to denote the move to a cashless society. The striking artwork stayed in place all day from 6am to midnight on a busy September Monday.

Conclusion:
The effect of covering the bridge created a stunning talking point. Promotional staff at either end of the bridge explained the message to passers by. The stunt was a massive success with the photographs appearing in every daily paper.
