I feel there's still a lot to edit, but you gotta stop at some point. ;)
Shot in berlin, with a canon XL1.
BURIAL really became one of my favourite artists, I feel like I could make a short to ANY of his songs. Amazing - I'm in love! And thanks AARON, you're damn talented!

I wanted to upload a bigger version, but had some problems with the "lights". They are stills (png, cause they needed transparency), but none of my filters worked to de-interlace them, though the video without them works fine. In the smaller version you cannot really see it, so I uploaded this one. Of course I would appreciate any advice.

The lights are animated in FCP with keyframes. I hope I get to know better adobe after effects very soon, so I can improve in using visual effects and animations.

So so so impressive. Superb ! Does Burial know about this video ? If not, he should.

    Thanks Remyyy!
I tried to contact him, even through his hyperdub label to get permission for the songs, but sadly still got no answer.. still hoping to get one. :)

Nina nice job on DISTANT LIGHTS. I like how crisp the black and white scenes looked. Saw the trailer for awhile back and was wondering how it would eventually look. Nice use of music with it too.. Bravo to the entire crew.

I'm really glad you like it.

Hi, try dropping the cut with the light animation into another sequence (to make a nested sequence) and then apply De-interlace with Flicker Filter?
  • Nina. 3 months ago
Hi Adam, I already tried the flicker filter on the lights to de-interlace, but nothing seems to work. Does ist make any difference if I put the lights in a different sequence first?
I got the hint now that it's a known PAL problem without a sollution. Or that I should try it with different codecs. I'm not really convinced yet that'll help....
    thanks for your advice!!

It could be that even though the footage and images are de-interlaced, the movement effects aren't? Maybe the de-interlace effect needs to be moved on top of other effects that have been applied afterwards?
By nesting a sequence in another you can apply all the uniform effects such as colour and video effects in one go at the end of the edit.
If it's shot PAL then I suppose it's best to keep all the sequence settings PAL as well.
I hope you overcome this bug because it's a fantastic video.
