Here is the current NYC Vimeo staff, as of today. dalas lives in Portland which is why he isn't in the vid.

I can't quite tell what's real and what's a joke, and what's half-real. Almost all the tech-speak is a joke and means as little to us as it does to you.

Jonathan Marcus works for IAC, our parent company, but he spends a lot of time with Vimeo. He used a metaphor that he's the air traffic controller and we're the pilots, or maybe we're the planes.

I always hoped I could take my vidblog style and make documentaries out of it. Now I have proof that I can do it.

This was the first video I've edited in Final Cut Pro in six years. I love the program and no longer have a fear of it.
This video is a response to Thommy Browne's request:
I am requesting to see more clips of all the office hi-jinx that goes on at CV. We haven't seen any in a while.

Final Cut is the bomb and doesn't bite either :P
It reminds me of 'The Office' yet more - clever? lol

that poster behind Andrew at 4:00 kind of scares me...

and must we always torture Ricky for amusement? hahahha
  • Zach Klein 1 year ago
    Yes.
  • dalas verdugo 1 year ago
    The answer really is yes.
  • Steph Belsky 1 year ago
You think you're scared of the poster behind Andrew?! Try looking at it every day for your first week of work :) I heart these boys...

"I said gosh darn it, damn-" "You said damn?" "All those words." and the panning over to Zach make me laugh a lot.

I really can't wait to see more of these.

    Mr. Marcus is a suit.
    Love Zach's cowboy hat segue.
    Poor Ricky.
Is the next weekly space increase gonna be an order of magnitude larger? :)
Casey codes with his eyes closed. He's that good.

Does anyone else get the vibe that they are watching a Christopher Guest film while J. Marcus is talking?

This would have been a lot cooler if all the staff members had sharpie mustaches. Good job Jake - thanks for taking the time to film this.
  • Cait Oppermann 1 year ago
Christopher Guest is genius, yet failed to perform greatness in his last two films.

Jonathan's pants are awesome. I want some like that.

You're right about the documentary thing. Now you have me excited about us maybe doing a documentary together at some point? Like maybe in a year we can take a hiatus from whatever else we're doing and work on a documentary.

Something feature-length in this style would be really amazing.

Folks, download this one and watch it full-screen.
  • Thommy Browne 1 year ago
Watched it full screen. Another observation, ... West Elm, vitamin water.
  • Jonathan Marcus 1 year ago
Jake kinda challenged me to kick my really bad soda habit. He basically laid down gauntlet. And I responded with vigor, and Vitamin Water. Lots of it. Mostly Revive / Punch.
  • Thommy Browne 1 year ago
I'll take vitamin water over soda any day. Hands down. I prefer the 50/50.
  • Jonathan Marcus 1 year ago
I keep an empty bottle of 50 / 50 on my paper-free desk. But, thats because 50 cent and I are "dawgs".

Vimeo designed for, suitable for, or typical of people who work for large corporations used or owned by all members of a group or community relating to or involving different groups within a society. Staff training is the collective responsibility of the Vimeo personnel officers a distinct group that lives or operates together within a larger group, the working together of two or more things, people, or organizations, especially when the result is greater than the sum of their individual effects or capabilities. Great clip boys.

My old boss would weep (figuratively) with pride if he knew that we somehow managed to evoke a Christopher Guest / Spinal Tap comparison. 'The Office' was definitely my inspiration LCF!
  • Jakob Lodwick 1 year ago
But you were being some percent serious, right?
  • Jonathan Marcus 1 year ago
The underlying message was definitely serious. My hair is real - its not a wig. When Zach showed me Vimeo, I was simply blown away - and continue to be more impressed every day. I was just using absurd metaphors and an 'The Office' like tone.

  • Jakob Lodwick 1 year ago
Oh, what happened to Kunal as a Vimeo guy? Well, in the past, nobody worked on Vimeo full time, it was just a side project. So at one point Kunal was putting in just as much Vimeo work as anyone else. But now he's the director of development of CH and only works on Vimeo when we pull him over and force him to consult for us.

I'm not sure what was more impressive... Jon's performance, or his hair. How do you walk around with that mop on your head?

I've known Jon for almost my entire life, and I have never heard the kid say anything funnier than in that video.
  • Jakob Lodwick 1 year ago
What's crazy is that it's not really fake, it's not really a joke. At least, not to my knowledge. It's a mix between real and fake. When most people go into "joke talk", it's almost 100% joke, but Jonathan straddles the line so eloquently.
  • David Marcus 1 year ago
Cru... What's funny is that the point of emphasis was on how he sits in "big meetings"... I don't know how anyone even pans down from his "Donald Trump like hair" to see how he is sitting.

FYI: He sits like that even when he is not in business attire. I noticed him sitting like that in the jacuzzi. The kid just doesn't know where to draw the line.
  • Jonathan Marcus 1 year ago
I definitely (try to) live life straddling many different lines. No - it wasnt a joke. But that was definitely the intention of the tone.
  • soma 1 year ago

Haha, that was great! Yeah dude, that was a pretty kick ass documentary. I liked your transitions a lot, especially the audio ones, very smooth, very nutty. That was a nice poster in Ricky, I thinks, office, haha!

I've always wanted me some FCP, but then I would also need some Apple Macintosh, what a quandry I have!

    Can't wait to see more!

I can't quite figure out where Johnathan is coming from...and being as I'm far removed from being a suit, I can't help but laugh. Fantastic buttons on his shirt though. Really smart.

I really like how you hear what people have to say before they introduce themselves. its a lot closer to personally meeting someone. like talking to them before reading their name-tags.

    gooood job.

The tech speak here: Higher quality or lower quality than the tech speak in Hackers? Let's decompile the PHP and run a pointer through the output buffer to see.
