Good, but my question is : how much?

  • Seriously cool equipment, in particular when using the DSLRs on hard-to-reach places such as 12-foot cranes or something.

Viewfactor.net is about to launch a USB-controlled device, for USM Canon lenses. Would be nice if Red Rock also offered this as an option, instead of having to buy a separate follow-focus motor.
  • Redrock Micro sponsor 1 year ago
Richard - it's a lovely idea and we would have released something by now, but the USB approach has significant downsides, these are only the top of mind ones: the low resolution of the lens' motors results in jerky movement that is unusable, you risk burning out the motors, and it's limited only to canon lenses. It's likely not possible

Can you make one that will fit microsofts KIN? LOL... (yes it was a joke)

The snug fit of the iPhone, will it support iPhone 4G aswell? and how does the iPod touch sit inn there?
  • Redrock Micro sponsor 1 year ago
iPhone 3G, 3Gs, iPod Touch, and iPhone 4 all fit in the housing snugly.

  • Podratic 1 year ago
I like the concept but what's with all that rigging. Not exactly an elegant solution. The film industry has almost made it a badge of honor to outfit cameras with accessories that look like a tangled mess.
  • Redrock Micro sponsor 1 year ago
@Podratic - the microRemote works with any camera setup that has sturdy 15mm rails over or under the lenses. You can have your rig as simple or full-featured as you like

    dear Redrock Micro:

    - when will be a detailed price list available?
    - Vincent Laforet mentioned a 1500$ price tag for the wireless kit(?). Motor included?
    - is there noticeable lag with the wireless controller?
    - what about the lag using the 'autofocus'?
    - should we be afraid that our precious Canon lenses won't be able to bear the fast movements of the motor?
    - is the wireless controller programmable for two focus points(like the ViewFactor Impero)?
    - can the software handle more motors than one? (one additional one for the iris?)
    - approx. how heavy will be the kit around the camera? (one of the main use will be for steadicams, so this is an important thing)

    thanks in advance

  • super cool device but I'm only interested really in the finger controller, that coupled with a wired/wireless start/stop button for video will REALLY change the way you can set up HDSLR rigs.

on a separate note, what was the song used for this video?
  • Redrock Micro sponsor 1 year ago
Alex for the finger controller you can purchase just those components: the wireless remote is not required for that setup.

The tune is a royalty free piece of music
  • oh excellent! How soon will we hear more about the finger controller? Can you give a guesstimate?

Also are you guys working on/planning on making a start/stop record button for video like Zacuto's DSLR Remote Trigger for a complete single-handed control scheme?

I don't know if anyone has asked this yet, but will it work with canon lenses or other lenses that have a focus ring that doesn't stop rotating? How can you calibrate the system to your lens if the focus ring constantly spins?
  • Redrock Micro sponsor 1 year ago
Yes it absolutely will work with Canon lenses. You can manually calibrate the lens start and stop points, and they will then be treated as hard stops.

What about pricing on the handgrip wired controllers? Will I be able to adapt my cinevate uno grips that I already own to the wired control grip or do I have to buy redrock?
  • Redrock Micro sponsor 1 year ago
Hi Benjamin - final pricing has not yet been set, but the wired hangrip controller will be very inexpensive. We can't comment on your grips, it will depend on whether they can fit an external controller. Thanks!

Should I seriously consider selling my Bartech BFD Wireless followfocus system ASAP because the "VALUE" of mine might drop as soon as this ships? Or will the market still call for the BFD post Redrock iphone Follow Focus? I Paid $4400.00 for my BFD!
