The international conference "Engineering Education 2010" provided a platform to consider how universities can inspire the next generation of engineers. It addressed how to inspire young people to study engineering, how to engage and retain students in their studies and continue to professionally develop the engineers of the future.

The title of Dr Lohmann's keynote is "Engineering Education Innovation: Advancing the Global Capacity for Engineering Education R&D". Dr Lohmann is vice provost for Faculty and Academic Development and professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
