»35mm« is a shortfilm about cinema itself. We picked 35 of our favorite movies and tried to simplify them as far as possible. The outcome is a 2 minute journey through the history of film.
Take a close look and tell us if you've recognized them all!

Excellent work. And, as a testament to how much I liked it, it got me to sign up here. I had to watch this a few times to see how many I could ID. Here's what I got so far (there were a couple I thought I recognized, but wasn't sure so I left them out): Singing in the Rain, Titanic, Jaws, Psycho, The Woman in Red(?), Benny and Joon, Taxi Driver, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Snow White/7 Dwarfs, Blues Bros., Terminator, Star Wars, The Exorcist, Toy Story, Fight Club, Modern Times, Clockwork Orange, Great Dictator, Rear Window, Nosferatu, Battleship Potemkin, Easy Rider. Looking forward to seeing the actual list. Keep up the good work, guys.

    excellent!
  •
  • This is brilliant, grwat work. And a great riddle, too.

I came up with pretty much the same guesses, expect the following:

The red dress is probably 9 1/2 Weeks.

I think the blood splattered peace sign has the wrong colour for Full Metal Jacket, it reminded me more of Born On The 4th Of July.

The different Taxi signs made me think of Night On Earth more than of Taxi Driver.

I think the first top hat could be The Avengers (even though that was mostly TV, not cinema).

One of the hats reminded me a lot of Oddjob from Goldinger, two other ones were clearly Laurel & Hardy, and there may have been a smurf the as well.

The black square being shiny reminded me less of Pulp Fiction, more of 2001 Space Odyssey. But on second thought, it's probably the suitcase.

I didn't quite know what to make of the Cross-Eyed Smiley. Maybe Religulous?

The upside down cross could be the Exorcist. I didn't know what to make of the section afterwards... Is that a doctor? The Music is probably a reference to Halloween.

The there's a propeller, that could be The Aviator.

The Grid ist most probably North By Northwest.

The Soap is Fight Club (Best Movie Reference EVER, love that part).

    The clocks... The 25th Hour?

The Street is hopefully Lost Highway.

The Shaving could be Taxi driver, or Full Metal Jacket.

I don't have an idea what the Heart Place could be – Mabye Heart + Flat = Flatliners?

The Steps could be the 39 Steps (probably not, there's only 16).

The Stroller coming down the steps is probably The Untouchables.
  •
  • pato 71 1 year ago
Cross-Eyed Smiley could be "The Life of Brian" at last sing Always Look at the brigth side of life...

The Grid could be The Matrix

The red dress is "Carrie"... but after is stripping so maybe "9 week and a half" too...

Two forks dancing... I have in the tip of my tongue, but I really don't know... please help!!!!

I see Monsters Inc? rigth after Toy Story.???

After that... the hair trimmer??? I don't know either
  •
  • pato 71 1 year ago
the lonely hat in the 00:39 sec, could be The Thomas Crown Affair... and the other 8 hats after too...

The two forks in shoes is: The gold rush

Great illustrations and very creative ideas! I absolutely love it.

I believe this artful piece triggers a lot of thoughts. Summing up 35 movies which is close to 70 hours, if not more, is great work. And, I think there could be many applications for such concept. Just imagine summarizing the shockingly long historical events for instance, or anything similar! You might even teach children in schools by such interesting tool ;)

    very inspiring work Team!
