Iran
Some shots I did in Iran a few years back for "The History of Football" a 13 part 1 hour TV series.
While we were filming the "large mural of soldiers with traffic in the foreground" a secret police vehicle spotted us and we were arrested and held for 6 hours while they made sure we weren't spies! It wasn't a pleasant experience but that didn't change my feeling of the country and its people, some of the friendliest and hospitable on this planet.

im loving all the colors ..
Why couldn't we see, that there's only ONE world!?
DigiBeta unfortunately!
Thank you!
I'm shocked u were permitted into the mosque though....but then again football is almost a sacred sport there.
thanx for sharing this.
I can't remember the permits we needed, it was before 9/11 and a lot of things have changed, but I doubt it being more difficult than getting into the States(!!). The fact that both shoots were about football allowed us more leeway, helped.
I know that we were one of the few camera crews allowed into the country at the time.
So to answer your question, it was a while back and my memory has faded a bit, but I do remember there was a lot of too-ing and fro-ing to the Iranian embassy.
It was shot on DigiBeta, unfortunately.
I must go back and see those beautiful places.
You really make cry! Thanks for that:)
I visited Esfahan & Tehran this summer, so it brought back some fond memories, even if Esfahan wasn't quite as lush as the period in which you visited it.
As you said, the Iranians are some of the most welcoming, amicable people I have ever encountered, and a far cry from the images with which we are presented in the news at the moment...
Props!
Thank you!
i went to iran about 5 years ago for a snowboarding trip and it was the best one i've ever done. the people we're some of the nicest i've ever met and it really left a mark on me. its good to see all those places again
Indeed the leaves of life keep falling one by one. One of these days things will change for the better. It is inevitable!
I wish you had not been arrested for filming and am glad that you are able to see beyond that. That shows your generosity.
Thanks for the comment, but I don't understand what you are saying
cheers
