any tips on filming paintball with a dslr? Thinking a 70-200 should do the trick. How do you shield the light away from the live view screen? Do you use a kata bag or anything to shield your camera body?

Is it your first time shooting paintball period?

I used primarily a 70-200, 100-400 and 16-35. I would just put a T-shirt over the lens and body, its light easy to throw on and off.. works pretty well IMO.

For shooting, just stay as low to the ground as you can, cleans up your background and makes the action look bigger..

As for seeing the live view screen, just cup it with your hand.. you can get something like a Z-finder, but thats just more $ you dont really NEED to spend.

Good luck with your project mate, hope all goes well!

thanks for the reply. I used to film paintball before with an HV30, but I sold that to help fund my DSLR. I didn't think I will be doing any more videos for paintball, since a dslr wasn't ideal, but it does give a special certain kind of look. All I have is a 50mm prime and I am sure that doesn't help much. I gave it a try anyway and my focus was off. I do have a a genus viewfnder, but didn't use it at the time. I wasn't sure how well it would work with my i4's. I figured if I were to primarily use one lens 90% of the time it would be a 70-200. I am sure it will make my life easier on the field. Thanks for your input.
