Life in Tokyo: Gambling on poker and horse races and flying to a medical facility in Kagoshima to sell my body to science were some of the things I had to do to fund my first feature. I wrote, directed, produced, filmed, edited and scored the picture which was reviewed as "being touched by the spirits of Kurosawa and Imamura, filled with unexpected wonders and gentle humor, and radiating with the resilient glow of life." Noted as "A new director to watch." and "An emerging talent" by Variety.
