    Not bad. :)

OK, it was sensationally good. Just loved the shot of the fighter on the runway with the heathaze. Perfect colour grading, and sublimely chosen music. Sigh...

(But... I'm super peed off that I saw your posting on the forum a couple of hours AFTER the event, as I'm only down the road and that would have been a lot of fun to have been your flunky for the day ;)

very good love your Martin parr people style....is the excessive red in skin tones, trying to max saturation on such a grey day? can you cc the red channels just looks wrong
  • Philip Bloom plus 1 year ago
I cut this and graded in a rush this morning for a presentation at the Sony Roadshow, the reds are too much in places agreed. Glad you like the Martin Parr look. Someone turned me onto him recently and love his stuff.
  • 3d60 1 year ago
been horny for parr for years, its like he is the method photographer of our era, would love to see him work, one subtle thing is a lot of his work is lit!!

    hope the meeting went well..

Nice one! You captured some amazing shots here. The girls on top of the planes, wow, that's something I've never seen before. At first I thought they must have been stunt people, then realised they're robots as they're all doing the same thing.

With the timelapse shots plus video, you must have been shooting almost non stop for the whole day?
  • Philip Bloom plus 1 year ago
we were there for two days. I have so much great footage I could cut a dozen shorts with it. It's for the official DVD and am sure they will do a great job with it.

some awseome shots in there. the one at 3:15 of the planes flying away had that epic going to war feel from another era

The slow motion bit at about 3:13 is absolutely stunning. Epic.

The people on the planes reminds me of that film with Fred Astaire where all the girls are dancing on the planes. then i saw Glenn's comment that they were robots. LOL. owned.

Hey, I remember seeing someone with a camera and a DOF adapter attached. That must've been you, I've been there for one day (flew from Holland) and I shot some footage too until my battery ran out. I uploaded my video of it a minute ago.

The quality of your camera is truly amazing, the video also had a sort of 'Band of Brothers' feel to it with nice warm colors. Great job.

Excellent work! Why did you choose the 2.35 framing for this? I like it, just curious. Did you shoot with that in mind or just wing it and crop later and re-frame as needed in post?

Beautiful shots! Just a bit too much CC work / saturation for my liking, gives a dark and artificial impression that isn't well suited to aviation IMHO.

Really inspiring stuff... thanks for sharing Philip. How much planning do you put into shoots like this? Do you go through with an event organiser a schedulle of the days events so that you know your not going to miss stuff?

Philip -- Nice work here. I was wondering if you used a polarizing filter to cut down the sunshine a bit...?

Again I was just turned on to your stuff and I'm loving it.

    Thanks.

Just beautiful. My favorite shot is the props of the Corsairs silhouetted against the afternoon sky with rays of light through the clouds at 1:38. Just phenomenal shots.

Can I ask, how do you say the Letus fairs in relatively low light situations. Situations where with just the Canon AH-1 (if you're familiar) would have just enough light for no grain, and very accurate color, how much does the Letus Elite stop the light down?

Art is impossible to describe and it's something you feel inside when someone has done something exceptional that you see hear or touch. This is wonderful...thank you for sharing I love seeing great equipment in the hands of an artist. It's only skill and talent that produce pieces like these.

Thanks Phillip...I recently purchased a letus with zeiss primes after watching all of your informative vidoes to put on my panny hmc-150. You influence so many out here...more then you will ever know.
