See all Show me
This is in real time at 1 frame per second and runs for just under an hour. The flash version has become massive, so I suggest you just download the original file and fast forward through most of it.
I thought it would give people a good idea at just how much time I spend on these.

Sorry Peika, I couldn't really turn you into a Superhero, but I might be able to tinker with this and make you some kind of Film Noir character.
This video is a response to PEIKA's request:
I want to be a super hero too!

  • Paul McClintock 2 years ago
It's in H.264. I think you need to download the codec. I'll see if I can find it.

Are you on Mac or PC?
  • Paul McClintock 2 years ago
    free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

This should allow you to watch H.264... I think.

    I'm pretty sure... maybe.

This is only like 4.9 megs but is taking forever to convert to flash.
  • Paul McClintock 2 years ago
    Yeah.
I hope it doesn't become like 200mb when it finally does transcode.

Actually the proportions are all wrong in this picture anyway. I have trouble with front on portraits.

Duuuuuuude, nice. What is this "Painter" program? Can you do animations?

And PLEASE tell me...how do you get a quicktime file of 4.9 megs for 51 minutes at such good quality???
  • Paul McClintock 2 years ago
'Corel Painter 9' ... It's fairly well known. And yes, it has pretty good animation tools.

There are several reasons why it's such a small file size.

    1. No sound.
    2. One frame per second

    But the biggest reason:
    3. The movement in the image is so limited, I can have a VERY VERY low bit rate without degradation in image quality. Most of the picture doesn't change the whole clip.

    Oh and: H.264 kicks butt.
  • Paul McClintock 2 years ago
I probably could have made it even smaller, but I didn't really experiment with bitrates or anything.

FYI, I think I set the bitrate to about 25kbits per second. (As opposed to around 1200kbits for a regular movie.)

Huh, very interesting! Thanks for that info...maybe i can use it sometime....

Thats so great, I like the layer technique with several greytones. Well made.

I´m also intersted how you get this so small,
and which program did you use to make the film? Or did you shoot pic by pic
  • Paul McClintock 2 years ago
There are plenty of programs that record the screen. Actually this list helped me out a lot:
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_screen_recording_software

Thanks for the link and the info at "eat a bug", alway forget that wikipedia is my friend, even in such questions - normally looking only for encyclopedia themes.

you might want to try a program called camtasia, it does timelapse recording. that way people don't have to manually fast-forward through your clips.
if you want it, let me know.
  • Paul McClintock 2 years ago
Yeah. I figured out how to do timelapse AFTER I did this one. The next one wont be so LONG!
