Well, I'd packed up my camera and tripod after a shoot at a pond near Stafford railway station. Heading back to work from lunch, my friend poked me excitedly and drew my attention to this unusual grasshopper.

There was no time to set up the tripod, so footage is shaky. Apart from that, the other problem was that I was trying to frame this creature with a monochrome viewfinder as the flip-out colour screen was too small to get a decent visual.

The result is that I finaly captured around 17 seconds of shaky footage. I have slowed the video to 25% of original speed.

Keen, thanks for your comment on my latest video upload.

I haven't seen any pink grasshoppers myself, but there are a few photos of them on the web; seems like you were really lucky to see one and as a bonus get it on video. Its a really interesting opportunistic video helped by being slowed down to 1/4 speed - got any more clips like it?

Take a look tomorrow, I've just uploaded the video I mentioned about the devoted Coot albeit mixed in with more general footage, including a Heron and of course the obligatory Mallard or two.

I could of course have done a BBC on the hopper and taken it home and set up a controlled environment, but I feel that wildlife should be filmed wild, where it belongs.

    Thanks for the comments.

Keep your iris open and all that.

All you need is a few seconds of stillness - I think there are a few there ;-)
Who knew they made them pink! Now I do thanks to you!

Yes, yes, yes, I noticed a still spot or two also, thanks to the slomo presentation.

Now here's an idea for one of your productions, how about a giant pink alien grasshopper invasion. Wow! won't that just knock some socks off lol.

Looking forward to your next gripping production Maria, and thanks for taking the time to comment.
