My father has been playing this viola for over 60 years. I read about this challenge about to get on the flight to go visit him in Vermont, and he kindly let me shoot him and his instrument yesterday. This was lit with some bright fluorescent worklights on the ceiling of my mother's basement art studio, diffused with "shower curtain material" duct-taped under the lamp. I literally had to put the shower curtain back after I was done shooting.

Sound was recorded with a Zoom H4N and its built-in microphones, and synchronized by hand on a hand-clap slate.

I'd like to worry this a bit more in post, do some more color-correction and tweaks to the edits, but the great thing about timed challenges is that TIME'S UP! I may go back and do an HD version with some more post work later, though.
