Here's a pretty cool application from Australia. It doesn't beat having multiple monitors on your desk, but it does make it possible to have individual workspaces that are optimized for particular tasks.

This video is a bit shakey. I think that's because it's actually been downsampled three times: Once when Screencast-O-Matic created the downloadable file, again when I exported the video from Adobe Premiere to an MP4 format, and finally when Vimeo crunched it to fit.
