See all Show me
In February, 2004, dalas and Rjyan and I went to Europe to play shows in Austria, Germany, and Norway. We played four shows total.

The title is a combination of Germany (where we went) and Cex (the name of the band).

The music playing throughout is stuff Rjyan made and was playing on the tour. CORRECTION! The song at the beginning is by Four Tet.

I wanted to upload my vidblogs in order but dalas suggested I put this up since it's the 3rd anniversary of the trip. Ok!

I always enjoy your blogs Jake, this one is really cool.
It seems that you have done even more than i had previously thought you had done in your life. Is there no end to the talent??

The pulsating music in the middle sounds really cool.

The audio cues, expecially in the first song bit are great!

Haha, the reason I'm laughing hysterically towards the end is because a random guy opened the door to our hotel room and saw Jakob standing there in nothing but a bath towel, holding a video camera, and then he looked and saw that the only other people in the room were two other guys!

Then he just goes "Sorry, wrong room" and shuts the door.

I think it should become the Vimeo house in-joke for that two-headed bear to appear in as many videos as possible.

He needs his own account so we can add him to the cast.

hahaha, it's true! I looked at Rjyan in that coat pushing that cart and couldn't believe what a vagrant he looked like. That was so much fun.

Do you think that you will look back at this clip in a couple of years and wonder where the structure was - or is there just simply a method to the madness that will endure?

I enjoyed the clip. The lack of a coherent (or necessarily defined) sequence was cool, and I really think weaving music into a vidblog improves the perspective and flow.
  • Jake Lodwick 3 years ago
When I'm editing, I'm not aware of any overall structure. It's mostly decisions like, "this clip works with this bit of music" or "this clip makes sense right after seeing that other clip". And then after a few hundred of those little decisions, the final clip emerges.
