    You may find it odd but in Lisbon (Portugal) there was a gentle man that for many, many years waved everyone driving by Saldanha, a large well known square in the middle of the city.

    His name was João Manuel Serra, better known as "O Senhor do Adeus" ("The Waving Gentleman").

    He died last year (2010) after completing 80 years.

    More than 200 people gathered the following night to honor him in the same square where he stayed for so many nights.

    He was a kind and generous soul and will be missed.
