The first movement of Pastorale in C Major by Domenico Zipoli (1688-1726). A piece from "Sonatas for Organ tablature and cymbals".
I had to use my Victorinox to unscrew a panel on the left. I could then acess one of the jammed stops, and turn it off. Then the bass drone would not be so loud. I then used the pocket knife as a weight on the bottom C key to make it drone like a bagpipe, true to the music.
Zipoli must have been drawing from his Italian birthplace when he wrote this work. It was written for the piva, the now extinct traditional bagpipes of Lombardy, Italy, and Ticino, Switzerland. This is the first piece of organ music I completely learnt!
This is a 123 y/o reed parlor organ. It was made by the Dominion Organ and Piano Company in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada.
For more details on the particulars of this organ, and why it came to New Zealand, plus Flickr photos; please check out my blog post.
Apologies for the less than ideal audio quality. I used a compact camera made for taking photos, not videos. Maybe I will try to record the sound with my laptop and Audacity next time.
