In this sermon we discuss prayer in general, but we zero in on "A Different Kind of Prayer." James 5:13 reads: "Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms." In the original language, the word afflicted means something hurtful or damaging. It describes a person that could possibly be suffering from some devastating sickness, but in this sense it is referring to someone that is harrassed by some problem that is weighing them down and producing devastating results in their lives! (Sound like anyone you know?)
It is during times like these that a five minute, pity pat, hurry up, run in and run out type of prayer will not work. It is during times like these that you will need to pray "A Different Kind of Prayer!" It is a prayer that has a unique sense of urgency. A prayer that says I will spend time with you Lord again and again until I know your heart and hear from You!
