In 1980 the underground music magazine Uusi Laulu organized the tongue-in-cheek campaign "Keskiolut R-kioskeihin". Its aim was to criticize Finland's paternalistic alcohol policy with the (at the time) outrageous demand that lager beer be made available for sale at R-kioski kiosks.
Montaasi's film of the campaign is a valuable document of the attitudes of the Kekkonen era as well as the taboo-breaking do-it-yourself mentality of the punk movement.
Montaasi 1980. Directed and edited by Timo Vartiala. Photography and sound recording by Petteri Kotilainen and Matti Kanerva.
