Hemp is legal in Vermont, but not at the federal level. Susan Bartlett, candidate for Vermont governor, advocates for developing a business plan to grow, process and market hemp. That will allow Vermont to make a case to the feds for a waiver.
Hemp uses a lot of phosphorous, one of the major pollutants of Lake Champlain. 20 foot buffer zones of hemp around farmer's fields will help clean the lake.
