The Campaign for Conscience, a rightwing Christian group are opposed to homosexuality and civilpartnership. They held a picket at the Phoenix park Gates, closest to Áras an Úachtarán the day before the President was due to sign the bill into law. Local residents and members of the LBGTQ community held an impromptu counter picket when they got wind of the anti-homosexuality campaigners.
