In the cool of the evening, I was filming some bumblebees up at the pungent bee balm, when I noticed two bumblebees mating on the ground...

actually, they are using a bee balm "stalk" as their mating spot.

The male appears to be in for the ride of his life... he even beats his wings when it looks like they might fall down.

Also watch the female bumblebee reach up with her middle legs and stroke the male bumblebee...

Those shouts are the neighbor kids playing hide and go seek...

OH, and see if you can see that sowbug on the stalk nearby.. he's also enjoying the show :-)
