You have done a great service to the DSLR market. This was incredible. Your skin levels are perfect, the green screen mask is the best I've seen, lighting is great too.

The part that makes all the tech work is the song, the story and the directing. Well done!

Amazing work Dan! Beautiful! Would you mind revealing what lenses you used throughout this shoot?
  • Dan Blank plus 1 year ago
    Hey Sean!

Almost everything was shot with the Canon 35mm 1.4L. I think I used my 16-35mm 2.8L for a few shots too.

Terrific work, Sean. Didn't know that such fine work could come from the Canon 7D. I thought you needed to go with the Canon 5D to get such footage.

One question, is the delay between the video and audio intentional, a stylistic choice?

Stunning, stunning, stunning. So many questions:

    720p60 or slowed in post?
    What keyer did you use?
    What grading suite?
Would you use the 7D for keyed work again, or were you yearning for a more traditional cam while shooting this?
Which things did you spend the $2000 on?
  • Dan Blank plus 1 year ago
    Hi Eric-
    1) 720p60fps slowed down to 24
    2) Keylight & Primatte
    3) Magic Bullet Looks/Colorista
    4) Would only do greenscreen on the 7D is final output was 720p or lower.
    5) I'm going to write a blog post and try to break it all down. Most of the money was spent on the day of the greenscreen shoot.

    Vimeo know just now.
My English level is really elementary.
I first heard "Whatever Lola Wants ...

For all that should be silent ,
but I dare to comment on your work:

I feel one more than had the pleasure of enjoying the
magnificent musical sound ... of those visual angles and careful assembly with your "glorious 7D" ( ? )

A combination master mix of sceneries classic
with modern audiovisual concepts, fully involved
in the script. A real tribute to one of the great moments of the mass entertainment industry, from wollywood.

Sober and elegant style with clever use of
special effects with a spectacular finale...
I feel appreciation for Vimeo and for you,
Dan Blank and Allison Lizzi, I sincerely says:

Thank you and God bless your goals.

Some of the best work I've seen. It about time some one knows how to use the tools the way they were meant to be used. Not just a bunch of..... Here's My 7D Test.

    From one Cinematographer to another,
GREAT! Work. I know how hard it is to create HIGH-END productions.
Keep it up and raise the bar even higher.
    D.

One question Dan, Ok Maybe Two.

It looks like you shot it 720 60, is that true??
Also, I'm viewing it on a 63inch Samsong Plasma from my iPad and can not find any compression noise, not even in the shadow or dark arias, which is surprising because that's all i see in everyone else's vids. My question is, What Did You Export The File As from your time line.
  •
  • DARRYL SMITH 10 months ago
THIS IS FOR CANON. if your marketing Dept. DOES NOT purchase this production from Dan for at least! $40 Grand, Take it to your "AGENCY" and have it cut up into 4 separate spots, Then you will be the biggest fools in the industry. As you know, it would cost at least! 80 to 150 Grand if your Ad agency had it produced @ this level.

That small amount of revenue will give Dan the insentive to do even higher end work with your products. And you know what that will lead to.... Canon being NUMBER 1 in the DSLR market.

Giving you guys a Heads Up for this summer and the coming XMas.

    Be Smart, Very smart....
    Forward Thinking is the key.
