On the edge of the harbor in Rotterdam there is a little stone beach. Here you can see all the giant ships going in and out of the harbor. It is a cool place to be, but you better stay in your car because the wind will blows like a madman straight out of the sea across the flat beach.

Shot in wide / squeeze mode, upscaled to 720P apple Proress 422HQ. Quick grade with MB Looks, second version uploaded.

Did you cut up your Letus rods? Seems to me that you're only using a little bit of it :)

Nice place. I'm a fan of the ocean and wind turbines :) A shame about all those beer/soda cans. People don't think nowadays...

Cut up? Not really, this is the nice thing about the Letus rods, they come in two parts you can screw together. This is the 15cm extension. Yep, great place, love those turbines, will go back there when I get my EX cam.

It is a shame about the trash, it washed up from who knows where. Most of it is international or export versions.

I see. I have the 45cm version (one piece). I didn't think it was possible to only hold the camcorder with one support (at one end).

I'll have to order a 15cm extension and try this...

It is possible, because the adapter riser and baseplate riser you have two solid mounting points making the whle rig stiff enough. When you order the 15cm, you might want to check out their new L riser. You can select the 15cm rods with the L riser. Not sure but I like the idea of lowering the whole rig as much as possible.

WOW ! Excellent video and the music - epic! Love the rack focus of the cans. The wind turbines look big - very big. Very nice.

Thanks, nothing like a bit of pompous music :) I love focus pulls like that, shame I didn't bring my follow focus though and I need bean bag for shots like this.

With strong winds like this its impossible to keep anything steady unless you can put it on something "solid". The wind turbines are huge silent giants. Actually felt a bit creepy standing underneath one.

That sunset was spectacular, you can spend days shooting around this place (if it stops raining!). Still think it should end with the sun coming out though, glad you like it.

Nice shots, the colors were awesome. I don't know about the music, the Lord of the Rings images coming back when I hear it. That's a huge lens you are using :)

man I want a setup like that! Excellent work. I'd so love to strap my 17-35 to one... the quality is VERY acceptable to my eyes.

Thanks, funny you should say that because I try to buy a setup like yours :)

The DVX has a decent dynamic range and color output, pixels don't count for everything I guess. Upscaled to HD, like this video, it even looks good on Vimeo. But not sure you would want to step down to 720x576.

    Again a great job!
    have you a steadycam?
Because the moves of the cam on 00:06 is SUPER
  • Maarten Toner 1 month ago
Actually, yes I got one but left it at home. Besides it doesn't have a low-mode kit and its too light for a Letus rig... That shot was old fashioned backbreaking soft shoe work. Will up a new version of the video in H.264 (finally found the right settings) where I smoothcammed it in FCP.
