Now anyone can have those tools, but it's not that easy to find some unique way to use them.

Any insight into the process? Was it Particular2 with shading? How about the running man? Was the piece all done in After Effects?

All right, some quick answers.

Some are with Particular2 shading.
The running man is formed of AE lights (about 800 lights) with Optical Flares. Those lights are animated in 3ds Max.
Clouds in the sky are done in 3ds Max too.
Other than that, all the particles are done by Particular, including rains, snows, butterflies, etc...
