  • SO SICK of Detroit exploitation films like these made from FAKE ASS Detroiters. Tell the REAL story and stop taking the nation through our garbage!" -A REAL Detroiter

I'm a real Detroiter, I think its great. Granted, i thought artistically the trailer was very monotinous with shot selection. - but realistically for something like 200.00, or the price of the heli- and gas for a car, pretty good, effective, even through its minimal nature may make it off putting, - oh shit... thats a lot like detroit.. WhiteWood, if detroit wants to stop being exploited by filmmakers - it needs to begin making its own films as opposed to relying on Hollywood and outsiders - films that pay realistic rates, stop asking people to work for free on indie projects music videos and commercials, millions of people make films - what makes anything going on in Detroit film-making unique or special... A tax incentive? - actually, not much except already bankrupt studios that teach people how to be filmmakers in 3 weeks - i say this as a working cinematographer, that would love to come back to Detroit and "work." Everything about me comes from that cities inspiration, my work ethic, my ability to shrug off defeat and challenge myself again, being independent, being strong... but honestly detroit has literally gotten worse and worse. Everyone takes pride in the city, but most do so while looking for handouts and asking people to take it easy on them, or give them a break. Do you understand what film is? its a passage into a world, one that as an audience member you must experience for the film to be remotely relevant. This is what a person viewed and got inspiration from... what the hell do you want the artist to make? and inspirational film about purity, with CGI beams of light coming down onto the city - which has also been CGI enhanced to look like a city made of solid gold? get real. Stop making the exact same music videos all over your page, (that have been made before, and by better artists) do something creative like put down your RED or EX and stop doing all your video-making in post.

You are a real Detroit'er, that's whats wrong with Detroit.

Have you seen the other trailer ? The green one ? This is the gray one. There is both sides, like in the film, like in Detroit.

looks great man, sorry about taking up so much space replying to that post. I get really sick of people like that, and honestly - it just kind of spilled over with your page unfortunately being the location it happened.

I like this quite a bit. personally, id pay someone to give you a nice looking color grade. but other then that - i'd like to wish you luck at your festivals! The footage in the green is very impacting! did you shoot at the 'plex? i thought i saw a place i shot an anarchist doc' in '06. with the theater garage? and the co-op outside -

anyhow man, again long winded, good luck! both come together to show all sides well!

Thank you Joe. But somehow, I understand the Whitewood point of view. And it's not easy for me neither to make a film after all the films that I've been made before me. But I made it as much honest I was able to. And the people from Detroit who saw the film at the Burton Theater in october was so nice. What a f... great city !

I hope that the film will be on VOD one day. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a movie theater release before...
