GH1 hacked firmware summer 2010 episode 2 "Essaouira Express"
This is the second episode of summer tests with the hacked firmware on my Panasonic GH1.
Shoot in Essaouira, a very nice fishing port surrounding by fortification in the Atlantic west coast of Morocco, world heritage for the UNESCO ; the place where Jimmy Hendricks wrote "Castles made of sand" in 1967 (I met souiris, people of Essaouira, who have met him).
I went one week there with my girl friend, a friend of mine and his son in the middle of july 2010. Filming in the smalls old streets, in the medina and the souk was such a pleasure for me, especially with it's particular light at the end of the day.
Bad fully the summer in Essaouira is windy and I didn't have the material to record the sound well, that's why I decide to do a "music video style".
Since I've hacked my GH1, two mains problems have appeared :
1- I can't edit anymore on Premiere CS5 (on a Mac Book Pro unibody end 2008 with 4 Go of RAM), there is too much bit rate for native editing, so I have to edit with FCP trough "Log and transfert" in Apple Pro Res
2- I can't shoot on 720P under 100 shutter speed because of awfull mud problems.... Wich is a problem when I want to have more light...
