I generated over 10,000 visual effects algorithms within the family of Posterize using Algebraic Combinatorics (think permutations) method. After storing these permutations in a database, I batch rendered a single frame and multiple variations for each. The following images are a random selection of some of those renders. Music by the Gotan Project, 'Tango Cancîon'.

    So are you doing a natural-selection style approach to determining the best permutations?

    that's very perceptive of you. the structure of the code compliments the following hierarchy: species, individuals, chromosomes & genes. later on, based on weighted values that are influenced by x-# of sources, the batch-renderer will take this into account and begin mixing-n-matching the strongest/most popular and/or aesthetically appealing traits.
