Raw unedited, junk footage, straight out of the camera and scaled to 1280x720 in After Effects - no CC.

The effect of the Rolling Shutter is clearly visible there...

this footage would have been prime minus the shutter roll

Agreed, looking for a way to isolate or reduce vibration transfer from the adaptor to the camera.

  • Pretty intense shutter roll.... I didn't really notice it in your first round of test footage. Am I just missing it?

It is there, but more hidden by the nature of the footage on the other clip, as soon as you get some clearly defined verticals, it becomes pretty obvious - so you can get away with it if you choose the right subjects (people/nature) and/or keep the camera moving.

Just bought a SGPro, which does not suffer from this :)
  • Thanks for the comment. How does the SGPro get around it? I've understood that the CMOS is the problem, here, not the adapter. ??
  • Tynan 1 year ago
The problem is the vibrating motor shaking the camera (and CMOS/Rolling shutter system).

Without the vibrating adaptor you would need to really throw a CMOS camera around to get the rolling shutter problem, it wouldn't show itself when - for instance - panning the camera around your local park, taking in the view.

The SGPro is a 'spinner' - that is: the ground glass spins, instead of vibrates, so the camera is not shaken.

This effect can be eliminated by lowering your shutter speed to 1/100th or lower.
  • Tynan 11 months ago
This problem is persistent regardless of shutter speed.
