Demonstration of a new multires feature suggested by renderdemon. Added a reshape button that copies vertices from another selected mesh into the current multires level. The vertices must be the same in number and ordering, of course. This enables editing of multires levels other than the base level in editmode, and it should also work for editing a multires level in an external application. Note that the copy is only exact for the first and last multires levels; all the inbetween levels will do some interpolation of the data (this is what's shown last in the video.)
