My Cousin and I check out the desolation wilderness for the first time starting at Echo Lake and Hiking up past lake Aloha. I live about 2 hours from this area and have never been so I decided to hike in and see what was around.

Note: I learned the hard way that you need a wilderness permit to enter this area. You risk fines of up to $5,000 and 6 months in jail if you are camping overnight without one.
