This episode features Jeff's new Watermelon Meta VTT2. The frame has been lightened from 1900g to 1600g. This was done by grinding the tubes thinner, and removing the disc tab. The cutout on the headtube was also enlarged.

The idea first spawned when we had a customer return his VTT2 due to paint defects. We wanted to see if it was possible to lighten a bike without spending any extra money. By the time Jeff finished grinding, the frame was hideous. Chris then suggested that the frame be painted like a watermelon, an idea that was inspired by a flamboyant limousine we saw earlier in the day.

Jeff has had a dozen rides on the frame now, and it is still holding up fine (Jeff is rather harsh on frames). It will be interesting to see how the bike holds up for Whistler Trials Works in two weeks.

Riders :

Alex Le - Rockman Slate (Blue)
Chris Hii - Rockman Slate 2 (Gold)
Kevin Liu - Rockman Slate 2 (Custom)
Anthony Fader - Rockman Aurem (Black)
Jeff Anderson - Meta VTT2 (Watermelon)

Music :
The XX - Heart Skipped a Beat
Tegan and Sara - Alligator (Toro Y Moi Remix)
Tegan and Sara - Paperback Head
The Zolas - You're Too Cool
Cold War Kids - Relief

Jeffs riding is just unreal.. That gap at 12:04 is massive.. But, can't he tap?
  • Kevin Liu 1 year ago
he can't really tap, but i don't think that's a problem for him haha

Thought that.. His bunnyhops are really high.. Did he do 20" before? Riding looks like that.. he almost bunnyhoped that hook up the block with the round thing on top.. *thumbsup*

I don't think Jeff has ever spent any time on a 20". I'm not really sure why he rides the way he does, but it's pretty incredible to watch.

it would be equally interesting to see the frame grinding process. How much does Jeff´s Meta weigh? Thanks

Jeff managed to get his frame down to 1600g. It eventually cracked at the brake mount because we may have ground it a little bit too thin in that one spot. I'm confident that if we could somehow take material off the frame more evenly, the frame will be very ridable.
